Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs and its tapering triangle continues to be among my favorite symbolic representations. It postulates a prioritized list of what we as humans need to survive, which is a helpful tool in ordering our actions to best suit our situation; however, it fails to include “transcendence” which I believe to be our need of highest priority.
